Moving from florida

Hi I am hoping some of you lovely mamas can help me in my quest to find a home in/near Solihull. My family is relocation from the US (Florida ) and set to move over July. We visited a few weeks ago for a home finding trip, but soon discovered we didn't get the home we put an application on. We are renting and having trouble since we don't know much about the area. We are looking for a community with local amenities like shopping, good primary schools, close to the train and family activities. We enjoy parks, going to the library, pool days(not sure if that's an option), museums and biking. Our budget is £1900 and we need a 4 bedroom home. The homes we saw were very small and I'm wondering if our budget is not enough for the area. My husband will be working in Blythe Valley so we need to be relatively close by. We found a beautiful home out in Tanworth in Arden, but it feels isolated, would this be considered living far from town? Or a home off of Saintbury Drive, is anyone familiar with this area?! Obviously safety is a big concern and we don't want to be on the "wrong" side of Solihull. I would appreciate any help and must say on my visit there I was delighted to see how welcoming the local people are in Solihull!

Hi Mamaofboys2, wow that's quite a move! £1900 a month is great for this area and you are sure to find a lovely home to rent in a good area with that amount. Tanworth in Arden is a little out of the way, but such a beautiful, quintessential English village! I don't know anyone at the school personally but it is well regarded as far as I am aware. I actually don't live that far from there and adore the countryside but also the fact that within minutes you can be near the local amenities. It will be a very easy journey for your husband to get to Blythe Valley from there too.
Saintbury Drive is very near to the centre of Solihull, in Hillfield by the looks of it. This is also a good area, much more residential than Tanworth in Arden but also much nearer to the centre of Solihull. There are good routes to Blythe Valley from there too.
Hope that helps, let me know if you want to hear about any other areas and good luck with the move!

Hi there
We moved over from NYC last year and eventually have settled in Dorridge. We love it - as you can walk to lots of things which we were used to from NYC (obviously a lot fewer things here but..) and you can walk to the train station to go into Birmingham or even to London (or Leamington and other nearby towns). It has a nice community feel, great schools, nice parks and playgrounds and still near enough to Solihull centre for shopping and other amenities. I'm sure you can find a really nice rental in this area for that budget - definitely! www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-46823375.html/svr/2120;jsessionid=53F8382109DAC4DF3429A6A3DAB450C6

For example.
Any other info just message me!

I hope that this doesn't sound patronising but I fear that you are likely to find many UK houses very small in comparison to American / Floridian standards. £1900 should be plenty to get a decent-sized place, though. How about this barn conversion?

Thank you all for the help. The letting market is so unpredictable! We found a home in Dorridge only to be told a month later they are going with another application! Then I found a large family home I love and the home owner was placing unrealistic demands and kept saying he would sign the contract for us to move in on 8/15 but that date came and he still didn't sign. We think we have secured another home also in Dorridge and should be moved in next week.
Hayley from what I could see Knowle is close by? Are you familiar with the nursery schools in the Dorridge catchment? Would love to grab coffee and see more of Knowle.
Thank you all very much for the responses.
