Hello everyone!
My name is Kathleen and I'm your new local editor for East Ayrshire. I just started today so there's a lot to do to get the site up and running. :)
If you have any groups, classes, services etc you wish to add, please add a listing and together we can make this site fabulous for the parents of East Ayrshire!

Hi there, just wanting some advice please from you wee locals.
I'm re locating up to Ayrshire from down South ( get on better with Scott's far better with being a northerner myself) and I am coming up to look at properties. As you can Imagine, it's a bit daunting, so I want to avoid Ambo, addiction and deprived areas. I don't mean to be snooty, but I do live in a nice area down south+ need to safe guard myself as on my own. I'm looking at Dalry, Dalrymple, Dalmellington ( new build) Maybole, drongan, Galston, Ardrossan and Kilmarnock. Are all these areas okay. Been told by Estate agents to avoid Onthank area in Kilmarnock. I don't mind being rural as I have a car, just so long as the place as basic amenities such as shop, Dr's, petrol station and leisure centre I need a vets too and need to be within 30 mins drive of an hospital too. I'm also looking at Stewarton. By the way, I do love shopping and going for nice scenic walks with my pooch. Suggestions and upmost honesty please as I am quite fussy. . Many thanks

If you live in a nice area you may find a lot of Ayrshire quite tired. Personally I wouldn't recommend Ardrossan or the three towns, you get a lot of house for the money but they are quite run down town centres. Same applies to Drongan, dalrymple and many parts of Kilmarnock. Stewarton is quite nice (I think) and Dalry is ok. What about Ayr or Irvine, which is fine as long as you avoid the rough bits)
