FREE VITAMINS FOR MUMS AND CHILDREN WHO LIVE IN KIRKLEES

The press recently stated that England's chief medical officer said ‘all children should be offered vitamin supplements to safeguard their health’. What you may not know is that Kirklees Council have been providing free vitamins to all pregnant women and new mums with a child under 1 and children between the ages of 6 months and 4 years since 2009.

Make sure you don’t miss out – why not join over 25,000 other Kirklees residents who have signed up for the scheme since 2009.

Vitamins are really important for children, particularly during the weaning stage, as they may not be getting enough from food. This can lead to problems such as vitamin D deficiency which is the main cause of rickets in children.

Any Kirklees resident who is eligible for free vitamins can sign up by speaking to a health professional (midwife, health visitor, nurse or doctor), regardless of whether they are receiving benefits. Alternatively ring Yorkshire Children’s Centre on 01484 415465 or email [email protected] for a full list of local referral centres.
