I'm in Jersey so if its anything like us then you have to think of the cost of living.

It is expensive in the islands because of importing goods.

BUT

it is a far better way of life for children

We just moved over with our two children and had a new baby shortly afterwards. We're also in our 30's, from Somerset but I actually grew up in Kent.

We haven't found it easy socially I have to admit; we haven't really met anyone despite me going to baby groups etc. Most of the parents I've met seem to be Guernsey born and bred and not particularly interested in making new friends. One of the Mums at school was helpful in filling me in about extra-curricular activities of which there are quite a few.

The island itself is nice enough - I'm sure it will be lovely when the weather improves. Our two elder children (5 and 2) are enjoying their new school / nursery and we're impressed with it too. Cost wise, childcare seems to be fairly similar to the UK. I should think it's a lovely place to grow up - it's very safe.

Hope that helps!
