Introducing your friendly new Local Editor! I'm Mrs Wilcox, I have three boys (1,3,6) and am on a mission to get this site buzzing.

Come and browse for things to do over the summer holidays, sell your old baby equipment or recommend a good plumber.

Let other parents know what you think of your child's school or nursery, and review favourite parks or child-friendly hairdressers.

Use the Talkboards as you wish. And if you have a business or are planning an event, add it to the listings page free of charge.

I'm based in South Birmingham and concede there is a certain geographical bias on the listings up so far Blush so I hope lots of you will get stuck in and add your own.

I'll be organising a meet-up soon (maybe Canon Hill Park? Ikea in Wednesdbury?) so keep an eye on the Meet-Ups page for details.

Enjoy!

I have 2 DD's - 2 & 3, and am North Brum but will keep an eye out. Was in Canon Hill Park today for ITNG so just missed your meet up!

Was v nice to meet nidhi and we'll definitely do something again soon.

It was lovely except they kept Upsy Daisy off stage until 35 mins in whilst playing the Upsy Daisy music at 5 minute intervals. There was nearly a toddler revolt Grin

Well organised though and my 2 loved it.

Ha ha!

Have been womanfully entertaining the DCs with free activities so far (bike rides, parks, baking, the excellent RAF Cosford aeroplane museum, more parks) so may be able to justify splashing out on the rather enormous cost. Am impressed they managed to keep the toddlers' attention for so long, despite young Upsy's absences.

Have you tried the nature centre next door? It cost me £5, kids were free and they loved it!

We're often there! But DS1 has a strange aversion to it Confused, and gets all anti-nature (not characteristic, think we may have gone too often when he was small!). We may have to reintroduce him to it as the others would love a revisit.

Ooooh I'd given up looking in here because it was always deserted! Lovely to see some folk Smile

I'm in south brum and have 3yo and 5yo dds. Did I miss a meet up?

Report
Mrswilcox · 07/08/2013 14:00

Yes you did! But please come along to the next one, next Thursday 10.30am at Cannon Hill Park.

I've got 3DSs aged 1,3 and 6, and last time met a lovely MNer with a 5 year old DD.

Whereabouts are you? I'm Bournville.

I'll definitely keep my eye out for future meets though. Hope you have fun Smile

Hi Guys,

Would be great to meet you next week. Where are you thinking of meeting in Cannon Hill? My DS is 2 years old.

Mrswilcox · 09/08/2013 22:39

Excellent, Cookiefinder (love the name!), we'll be at the play area closest to the Mac - found the other one too far from the loos! Although be warned, there is a big old fair, the Night Garden show and an ice cream van to get past.

I plan to bring cash for an ice cream this time - I felt so mean saying no to everything when we were there this week (had measly homemade sandwiches and water, which were apparently a v poor substitute!)

Am up for any suggestions for different venues. What about Rowheath for September? The cafe there does great cakes....

I was just going to suggest Rowheath, nice cafe, kids play area and a pond to feed the ducks! :-)

Hi all, the weather isn't delightful right now but is meant to get nicer after 10am, so we'll still be there (and primed to hop it to the Mac for coffee!).

Hi all. I'm in South Birmingham and love Rowheath, but won't be able to do meet ups as a) I work full time and b) my children are 16 and 18, so I'm clearly much too old - but wanted to say hello! It would be brilliant if we could get the local site used more / more useful.

For indoor meet-ups you might like Arco Lounge in Harborne, although it can be v busy and rather noisy. They do a lovely pot of Earl Grey!

Hello All, I've been away, then slightly overwhelmed with start-of-school preparations, internet failure, and a sleep-refusing toddler....but I'm back!

Yes, will organise a Rowheath meet-up. How does 10am next Friday morning suit people.

Psycho, I had the loveliest evening in Arco Lounge recently - it's great! Who fancies a day or evening out there...

(Sorry for the odd grammer - my question mark key has just died! Need a new laptop...)

Hello My Lovely!! Would love to meet up next Friday. A night out sounds like a great idea. Any other takers out there? I am a first time Mum and it would be lovely to meet up with other Mums in the area.
