Local

Lowther vs East Sheen Primary

I am in a bit of a quandary regarding local schooling. My son was offered a place at the Lowther school, not on our list, which we accepted. Since accepting that one he has now been offered a place at East Sheen, our original choice. East Sheen is just a few mins walk from our house whereas Lowther is a car ride away. I have seen both schools and think the Lowther looks more friendly and has a lovely grassy playground, however the children come from a lot further afield. They are both considered outstanding schools and I just don't know what to do. I wanted to hear from some mums with children at the schools to help me make my decision. Any advice and info would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Zianna,
Both are great schools. Lowther has lots of kids from Barnes who walk to school and yes there are kids from shene/Putney/Hammersmith. I don't think it makes any difference. It's a real family school. The teachers are mad kind and enthusiastic and headmaster is adored by all. Kids love it, they do really well. Very relaxed, very friendly. Very outdoorsy. Lots of use of the playground the astro pitch, the allotment. Shene is a great school too and I know lots of parents with kids there. I don't think you'll have a bad time either way! However there is a lot to be said for walking to school and I would probably opt for Sheen if it were me - unless you plan to walk and your son to scooter as otherwise you can really spend a lot of time waiting at that level crossing! - I'm not sure if it's triple form entry again or not this year at Shene? Good luck with your decision making!
