Need best state secondary schools in Kingston upon Thames or Richmond. Which area has better schools? At the moment Coombe girls seems good, is it a good school? Or Orleans Park? Teddington?? What are the chances of getting in these schools now after the admissions deadline?? because We're moving to the area in the summer :)

Hello from your Local Editor. I can't help you personally but hopefully one of our members will reply shortly. Good luck, stressful time I'm sure!

My daughters went to Tolworth Girls which regularly features good to outstanding on the Ofsted ratings and I can highly recommend it. Coombe Girls is an excllent school and I think it has a waiting list for post admissions deadline. You could also look at Tiffin Girls which is between Kingston and Richmond. It si also a really good school.

You will have to contact the local LEA and find out about waiting lists. Orleans and Teddington will start sixth form in the next year or so. Traffic can be a nightmare so choose the closest to where you live

Coombe Girls and Tolworth Girls are both very good schools. There is also Hollyfield, which is in Surbiton, but apparently it isn't a very good school.

My daughter is at Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form, she is almost at the end of her time at the school. The headmistress needs to invest in meditation / and or relaxation sessions. Perhaps some serious anger management classes would not go astray. My DD told me that, just before Christmas she humiliated and screamed at a year 7 girl in a joint assembly. Nobody knew what the girl had done, but in front of over 250 other children and staff she was humiliated and sent out. This was the Christmas cheer! This is disgusting, and unless the child has done something so heinous that no other punishment would suffice - one should wait for a quieter moment to respond. Discipline is a must, but so is 'respect for the person'.

Over my daughters time at the school, many of her best teachers have left the school. Other girls complain every year of this. This can only be indicative of the fact that she carries her aggression wherever she treads. Schools are only as good as their teachers and this one is losing superb staff because of her ridiculous management.

A negative point of view I'm afraid.

Tiffin Girls is supposed to be a very good school.

Tolworth has a very high turn over of staff because the headteacher is apparently nuts. I'm not sure how I'd feel about sending my kid to a school where the teachers weren't happy to be there.

It would want to be as a super selective. But I don't think there is much/any scope for admissions outside of the admissions process.

Hinchley Wood is excellent if you're on the Esher side of the borough.

What about towards Wimbledon side - ursuline and ricards lodge.

Ursuline is very highly regarded and Ricards Lodge's reputation is now really good too, although you'd have to be living on the Raynes Park side of Kingston to stand a chance of getting into the latter (as their catchment area is shrinking year on year).
