The friendship bench was looking a bit lonely, so hello everyone.

Hi Absinthe and Waitrose ( and anyone else out there),
I am up for some local support/friendship etc, sounds good to me!

I am in a great position at the moment (for the first time in years) for actally having some of that stuff called "free time". I am without various small young people being attached to me or constantly needing me for most of the day. Its lovely, but just got to remember how to use it, as its been a while.

How about you?

Hi Mingle

Yep, I have the strange feeling of a little bit of time between school runs & work so if you fancied a coffee, that would work :)

Where are you based?

Hi waitrose, Pretty quiet still on this friendship bench. I wonder is it in a friendship park next to a friendship playground?! Recently it seemed like I spent a large percentage of my week visiting playgrounds with various small people.

Anyway I am in Twickenham, where are you?
Where are all those other Richmond borough mumsnetters?

Hi. I'm still here!

I'm in North Sheen.

East Sheen here - very close to you Absinthe!

Do you have DC at primary school? wondering if I could possibly know you

I'm not surprised it's quiet here Mingle. It's a pretty new thing and I guess most MNers are more interested in the fun/big meetups. I just think it's important and nice for people who want/need a low key chat/coffee to have somewhere to look too.

And you're very good to brave the playgrounds in winter - I'm strictly a craft/play/indoor type come November (apart from those random bright days where bike riding and swings suddenly feel quite appealing)

I think a lot of people left the boards when they were changing it.

Hopefully they'll find a way to re-invigorate things as I know some of the threads I was on locally seemed to disappear in a puff of smoke.

(wonder if we're neighbours Absinthe?)

I have a nearly 7 yr old (next week) boy.

I have one child, aged six, at Darell.

I also shun the playgrounds until it's warm. I can't bear it. But the Rec is a lot better now there's a café with actual hot coffee and chips!

Sounds like some of you are very close to me!

I suppose really the way to reinvigorate the local boards is to start things ourselves.

I found some of the older threads a bit off-putting as everyone seemed to know each other so well and I rarely have the ability to go out in the evenings which is when most meet ups seemed to be. DD is the original clingy nutcase and my other half works very strange hours.

No other half here so equal inability to go out in the evenings. DS is at Kew Riverside but I moved to near the railway line so yes I'm guessing we are very close!

I was on the older threads and yes we did know each other well but entirely through meeting via mumsnet over the past 7 years (or so).

If you're near the railway line, you are v v v v v close to me, I imagine.

I read the older threads occasionally but all the meets seemed to be evening things so I never really joined in. It's tricky when you don't have the ability to leave the house in the evenings!

I suggested coffee to mingle on a Monday or Friday, if anyone else might be around and would like a cup of coffee and cake somewhere in Richmond.

ha ha ha - yes probably v close!

Am a bit stacked in the run up to Xmas as I've just back to work 2 days a week (it may as well be 10!) but yes would be game for a coffee either before xmas if I can squeeze it in or if not after.

In between the two! Where are you?

I'm also pretty busy in the next couple of weeks but happy to do coffee either before or after Christmas.

I'm nowhere near the railway line in sheen but definitely still up for coffee inRichmond. Also seem to be ridiculously buy in at moment considering I only work part time.
But also I am pretty darn determined (sorry if too strong there!!) to fit in some off-time social-type things for myself.
Endless housework and chores will all slot in somehow if I do!

Closer to Bicester in my case...

Absinthe I am in East Sheen (also near railway line) but my DC are at Holy Trinity and I have lots of friends in North Sheen.

Yes to coffee - but might struggle before Christmas.

Love your NN by the way Grin

Hi! And thanks.

Let's definitely schedule coffee in the New Year, then, since it sounds like most people are a bit busy before Christmas - I know I am. Monday or Friday are the best days for me. Anyone want to pick a potential date or two?

Friday marginally better as MOndays are a bit disorganised. But I don;t have a strong preference. How about Kew retail or Sheen if its just us three - we can move it if anyone else from further afield joins?

Friday's are fine for me.

Don't mind where - Kew Retail is easy parking and there's a Costa there now as well as the M&S

Sheen is super easy as it's where I am

Don't mind

Report
AbsintheAndChips · 28/11/2012 21:35

I'm happy with either of those.

Fridays are also much better for me as I'm currently having driving lessons on Mondays. Eek.

Mingle, how about you? I imagine Richmond might be more convenient for you than Sheen/Kew.

Hello there, I would love to join your coffee in the New Year if I can? I have a daughter at Holy Trinity - year 2 and a baby due in Jan so would be great to have some locals to chat too. I live in East Sheen and happy to meet whenever suits.
