Hello Exeter... Mumsnet has arrived!

Hello everybody. I am your Local Editor for Exeter.

I've been a Mumsnetter on and off for several years (Pom bears and nice ham all round) and I'm really excited about building this site into a useful local resource for all of us.

Here's a little introduction to what it's all about...

Listings
Anyone can add a listing using the pink "Add a listing" button at top right. Have a browse through the categories and think about anything you'd like to broadcast to other Mumsnetters. I've enjoyed adding listings so far, and have found out all sorts about Exeter that I didn't know before.

Local Chat
When I signed up for this, one of my first thoughts was "surely people will find me on the main talkboards and read about my raging mastitis/sausage roll habit/criminal record?!*" This won't happen... because Mumsnet has cleverly asked local chatters to assign themselves a local chat name that is different to their regular board chat name. If on the other hand you are happy to be known far and wide, you can use the same name and add a tweak to it (e.g. CiderPunkExeter).

*just to be clear, I don't have any of these things.

Local Meet Ups
I've recruited a few helpers to start organising these in the new year - but if anyone out there is keen to get involved, let me know. These wondrous people will henceforth be called "Mumsnet Ambassadors" and have a special card declaring them as such.

That's all for now... enjoy yourselves!

Wow it's scarily quiet on this board! How can we find some more people?

Hi
Blokey Mner here. Live near Winkleigh and great to see a local site running as meeting new friends is difficult.

Exeter is top of the active convos...yay! Can we join in from outlying and rather undesirable towns?

CiderPunk · 30/11/2012 23:18

Ah! Did you nick my cats? If so, then yes it was mine. If not, then they are probably asleep in the airing cupboard.

(Let's forget that I actually live in not very desirable town, which is a bit like rather undesirable town.)

My actual house is this Could you arrange to burgle it too? I'm not fond of the artex in the sitting room...

Hello! What are meant to talk about on here?

Report
CiderPunk · 01/12/2012 19:10

Yes I was going to buy that one why , but the lamp-posts near the stables were the wrong shade of pewter, and after that I just shuddered every time I looked at the photos and I had to ask my PA to have the butler dispose of them.

Hello Loisangersstrepsil. Welcome. That's a good question. It's a new thing, so we can make it whatever we want.

Shall we decorate the place? Devonshire theme, maybe?

Morning all! I have just shoved some weirdy lump of meat in the oven for lunch. DH got it, and the butcher said to cook it like lamb shank.... We shall see in about 4 hrs whether it is edible Grin

Yes, those lampposts have never been right, Cider. DH wanted to paint them gold. I think I'll just abandon the place to squatters, what with the artex 'n' all.

Oh, what is a Devonshire theme? Does it involve pasties and cream tea with the jam on last?

Hello starbug welcome to the penthouse, help yourself to a jammy scone and mulled cider!

I am intrigued by Why's mystery lump of meat... Hope it was tasty..?

Now what else makes a Devon theme? Perhaps we should have a spot of flooding in one corner of the penthouse (when a penthouse floods it's time to panic...)
