I'm going to look at some houses in willingham, can anyone tell me what the village is like? How is the commute to the science park? I've seen there is a nursery there called the Old Buttery, but can't find a website, is it still there? Is it ok? Sorry for all the questions

Not sure if this is too late for you, but the village is very nice. The facilities are good, library, cafe, bakery, a few shops, a couple of nice pubs, one of which does very good pies, I'm told! There's a community farm in Willingham too. The nursery is called Koala Kidz, not sure if they have spaces, childcare round these parts is a nightmare.... The Willingham Life website might help you.

The downside, for me, is that the A14 is the main road anywhere really, and Willingham's a bit far from it for my tastes. The A14 is a nightmare for commuting, but if you're going to the Science Park you could probably commute on the back roads. No idea what the commute is actually like though.

I go through Willingham to Cambridge (I work near the Science Park) - if you go via Rampton, Cottenham and Histon, and then slalom through Histon out onto the A10 at the park and ride, you won't be held up much. A journey of about 20 mins in the morning maybe?

Sorry caught this rather late in the day - but there is also a Pre-School at the Phoenix School Cambridge based in Willingham opposite the parish church. Outstanding Ofsted rating for it's early years - Age 3 to 5 (does go onto Primary school age as well) and is set back from the road within lovely private grounds and is not on a busy main road like Koala Kidz (see www.thephoenixschool.co.uk)Smile I used to do the back roads commute to the Science Park from Fen Drayton, via Willingham and onto the Park and it wasn't that bad and at least an alternative to the boring A14.
