Accommodation advice needed and friends!

Hello,
My son (4) and I (plus two small dogs and one cat) will be moving to Lewes on our own to start a new life (hurrah!).

Can anyone help with ideas for finding a flat/house with garden? What papers or cornershops should I look in? The agencies are generally anti single mum on benefits - though we would be great tenants as we love gardening and decorating!

I know no one in Lewes or Brighton so any pointers as to where to meet other mums would be good. I should be there (assuming all goes well) at the end of August - so if you see a tall, red haired, older mum staring vaguely at strangers - please say hello!
