Any first time mums in the Selby/York area??

Hi,

I'm due to have my first baby in May and up until now have been too busy with work to socialise with other mums to be, and don't know many people with kids in the area anyway.

I moved here with my partner nearly 3 years ago, but tbh never really expected to stay here, so I never really got to know anybody. Anyway, last year DP got a job that he has been wanting for ages and shortly after we found out we were expecting, so we will be staying in the area now long term. So it would be really nice to meet some new people who are either expecting babies, or who have had them recently.

I live in Sherburn in Elmet, so anywhere in the Selby area, or York is easy to get to. Does anybody know if there are any regular local groups in Sherburn or Selby that I can attend once the baby is born?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried the NCT? I'm due in September and have joined for antenatal classes in the summer - am already getting invites to events and lunches!

Thanks Pippaandpolly. Funnily enough I never thought to check out NCT postnatal groups (I just assumed it was all antenatal classes and sales - doh!) and there seems to be quite a lot on! I'm thinking now that I will join when the baby is born. Smile

I used to live in Sherburn in Elmet and there used to be a baby and toddler group that met at the church behind the market, just off the high street, they are very friendly.

I think there are groups for young children at the library also, would ask there.

The best people to ask would be the health visitors, they gave me lots of information.

There is also a play group at the church hall on Church Hill but that is for slightly older children.

Good luck, I hope you make some friends.

I'm just down the road, just outside Selby. My daughter is 10 now but if you ever need someone to talk to, give me a shout.
