Eastbourne February meet-up anyone?

Hi there,

from previous messages and a conversation with lowrib (whom I met on netmums...) it seems that quite a few mums would like to meet up but it just hasn't happened yet!

So.....let's try again. Who's up for it?

By the way, I am new to Eastbourne, moved here late summer with my partner, baby girl and toddler boy. Still finding my feet but liking it so far.

Hi meisje Smile

(lowrib here under my new name.)

I'd love it if a regular Eastbourne / Hastings meet-up got going, I think it's a great idea. I've been to some of the Brighton mumsnet meet-ups and they've been lots of fun Smile

Anyone else up for it?

I've got one DS, 2yo, and moved here last summer from London.

Hi, what a great response!

What about meeting up one Friday or Saturday evening in February, just adults? Then in March, when the weather is a bit better (hopefully), we can meet up with kids at the cafe by 'Tennis in the Park' in Gildredge Park?

Might give us a better chance of actually having a conversation and finding out about each other? (sorry, this sounds like we are going speed dating...).

Anyway, what do you all think?

p.s. as I am currently at home with the kids, I am up for meeting up during the week and do stuff with the kids if anyone is up for it?

p.p.s. Lowrib, why have you changed your Mumsnet name? And Mabs, might join you on 29th-what's the plan?

meisje I'm going on the 29th, come with me Grin Is anyone else who's up for it? We can be the Eastbourne / Hastings contingent Smile You should all come, the Brighton lot are really nice, and good fun. Brighton thread here

Back to Eastbourne / Hastings I like your idea of meeting up just mums and mums and DCs another time, best of both worlds Grin Friday or Saturday are good for me for the just mums one.

The tennis cafe is about to open again, hooray!

The cafe in Gildredge park by the tennis courts has got to be one of the best things in Eastbourne :)

It's so child friendly - they have loads of toys for the DCs, inside and out.

The coffee's good, the cake's great and the people who run it are lovely Smile

Is anyone up for meeting there Wednesday next week (my day off college)?

Hi Meggiesmumma Smile why don;t you come along next week? It'd be lovely to meet you. I'm new to Eastbourne too, and I've just been a mum 2 years now.

I've met a few mums from the internet and it's a much nicer way to meet I think (coffee and cake is always good IMO!).

I find playgroups etc a really difficult way to meet people. I still go to them for DS (he's 2) but I've completely given up trying to make friends there.

How old is your LO?

Hi! I'm new here too (moved to East Dean last March). I've got a 20 month old and am expecting baby number two at the start of April.

Can't make next week unfortunately. My parents are visiting from West Country. However would definitely be up for meeting up as not met a huge number of people since moving here (bit scared of playgroups so just stuck to Sing and Sign and swimming!)

Another Mum and I set up a Sling Meet last summer which meets once a month. Maybe we could combine the two, as we were planning to meet up at Tennis In The Park Cafe on Sunday 6th March, 2-4pm. There's only a few Mums and children who meet up there as it's still quite new. They're all from Eastbourne/Seaford/Hastings so could be quite a good mix.

Let me know what you think!

PS Incase you're not sure what a Sling Meet is, it's where we eat cake and drink coffee and also chat about different types of baby carriers, slings, etc. There's lots more than the Baby Bjorn out there and you can carry children well into Toddlerhood and beyond, however it's quite hard to find out about what options there are and how they all 'work' so we set up a Sling Meet to try and help people :)

I went to a sling meet once in London when my DS was little, it was really useful.

I'm still up for the tennis cafe next Weds. It's my day off college and it'd be a nice thing to do, but I'll see if I can make the 6th as well (more coffee and cake, why not?! Grin)

I'm going to be in the tennis cafe from 10am on Wednesday with some mums from my DS's school.. might see you in there!

Hi, I will be there on Wednesday-shall we say from 10 am? It sounds it will be busy!

And Meggiesmumma-am also quite new to Eastbourne and although not shy, have found it difficult to make friends at play groups etc as most women already know each other. Hope to see you on Wednesday!

Hello just to let you know about a couple of the friendlier groups in Ebo, there's bumps and babes for under ones at Community Wise (down the road from Motcombe swimming pool) on Wed. It's NCT but you don't have to be a member and it's nice. Or there's Little Stones on Thurs morning between ten and twelve at the same place, run by friends of mine. If you need intros or want to meet for a bit of safety in numbers do message me or whatever and I'll be glad to give you more info. I'm Eastbourne born and bred so happy to help.

hi smellsofsick thanks for the info and the offer of a friendly face. Smile

What age range is Little Stones for? (DS is 2)

Report
smellsofsick · 20/02/2011 04:17

threefeet Little Stones is a toddler group really so your DS would be fine there. They have a quiet spot for babies but it's mainly the two plus age group.

Brilliant thanks smellsofsick. I'm at college on Thursdays in term time, so I'll check it out in the holidays.

Really looking forward to tomorrow. From people who've PMed me there should be at least 5 or 6 of us there with our little ones I think. Along with Crafty Sarah and friends, and whoever else will be there in half term, it looks like the Tennis Cafe will be very busy tomorrow!

It's lucky it's only February else we might be fighting for seats Grin

If anyone wants to know how to find us, I've got a purple buggy, blonde hair and live in will be wearing jeans and my DS is 2 with curly blond hair.

Brew and Biscuit mmmm!

Damn - I missed it!I'm usually on mn ALL the time but we've had the sick bug so I've been offline all week (& wouldn't have wanted to give you all the lerg anyway!)
So, how did it go?

Hi Mamathulu,

for various reasons (sickness, weather, timing) quite a few people dropped out-there were 3 of us anyway so a good result for a first meet up I think! Had a good chat! Will plan another one next month-hope you to see you there?

Hi Mamathulu, we'll just have to do it again so you can come! Hopefully the sun will come out for us next time too.

I really enjoyed it, meijse and lainy0168 it was lovely to meet / see you Smile.

I did a consumer test while I was there by the way - just for those of you who couldn't make it, you understand Wink - and I can faithfully report that their cake is still good Grin Think I might need some return visits just to make sure though.

I'm going to pop along to ReallyNotAHippie's sling meet in the same place on Sunday 6th March if I can. DS is too old for slings, but I've been talking to RNAH on PM and she says they'll have me anyway. it's partly an excuse to meet up, have a natter and meet some new people I think and I'm all up for that.
