Hello ladies,
I just wanted to write a message to introduce myself to you all. My name is Ali and I am a midwife working within a local NHS Trust.

After working on the delivery suite for many years, myself and a collegue Amanda found that women were telling us that they had either attended antenatal classes that did not fully prepare them for childbirth and the postnatal period or we found that women were coming into the labour ward with unrealistic ideas of what the labour and birth experience would be like. Several years ago a woman that I cared for suggested we start to run private antenatal classes.

Amanda and I now run private parentcraft workshops in the Wimbledon Park area. We offer a 6 hour all you need to know session, which are lively, informal and relaxed giving a realistic perspective on childbirth. We provide lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Amanda and I have also written a 50 page information pack to take away with you including tips on positions for labour and birth, when to call the hospital, stages of labour and postnatal advice.

Our aim is to prepare you and your birthing partner for the exciting journey through preganancy and childbirth, passing onto you our invaluable knowledge and guiding through your unique experience.

We run one day workshops for small groups (3-8 couples) covering all aspects of labour and childbirth for you and your birthing partner. Our small groups encourage friendships to be formed and a future support network.

In our experience we have met many women who have attended antenatal classes through other organisations, but as qualified midwives who deliver babies on a daily basis we feel able to offer you a more matter-of-fact, honest approach to what an invigorating experience that labour and birth can be.

As we work within the local area, Amanda and I have also had the privilege of delivering some of our antenatal class babies!
