Hi people,

Not having long moved into the area we're in need of a plumber to do some work on our bathrooms and wondered if anyone knew of anyone they could recommend? Preferably local to Colchester. Thanks guys.

Yes - have just finished having our bathroom done by a lovely guy - his name is Shaun Beck and his number is 01787 221787. His company is S Beck Plumbing and Heating if you want to google him.

He's based just outside Colchester - out of all the people who came round to quote for the work he was the only one who took the time to complete a full itemised quote - he has a group of lads who work for him who were brilliant - v clean and tidy and I was happy to have them in my home.

Thanks a lot Paarrp - can I ask what he did for you and how long ago.... want to get an idea of reliability of work. Appreciate your reply. Will google him.

Thanks for that Paarp - I thought I recognised the name and I was right - he lives very near me and I see his van around alot. I've been through dozens of plumbers (big old falling-down house needs endless work) in my area and there are very few I'd be happy to recommend or use again, so I'll put him in my address book!

He did a full bathroom refit - stripped out and replumbing - we did the painting ourselves - they were 100% reliable - always phoned to check in and called back immediately if I left a message. Finished the work about three months ago.

We didn't see much of him - but he was always calling whoever was doing the work to see how they were getting on. He basically project managed it for us - so sourced plasters, electricians and tilers/floorers.

I'd definitely get him to do more work - we need a few radiators moving and will use him when pipes need moving in the kitchen - he's a genuinely nice bloke - takes his shoes off before he comes in the house too which is a nice touch!

We went with Andy Higgleton when we had a new boiler put in and bathroom installed in March.

He and his team turned up every day at 8am and left at 5pm and he was constantly available on his mobile if we needed to talk to him. He also moved a radiator, fixed a gas fire and did numerous small plumbing jobs as they came up. The standard of his work was very high and we have recommended him to others who also have good things to say about his work and reliability.

Thanks a lot guys, really appreciate your recommendations. We've twins coming along in the next few weeks and with one faulty shower in one bathroom and a dodgy flush on the loo in the other, we need to get these jobs done aswell as other smaller jobs so will give them both a ring. Interested to learn that S Beck does a full refurb as that's ideally what we'd like; new bathroom tiles, floor tiles, shower etc...
