We're moving to the North East and urgently need good Primary School recommendations from you lovely lot please since we need to view properties within the next few days and haven't a scoobying clue where to start!

Our wee lad will be starting for the first time in September & so to be within a good catchment area's our priority.

We need to be within about half an hour's commute of Middlesbrough - so any suggestions?!

So far we've been recommended & have houses lined up to view in Yarm, Ingleby Barwick, Billingham, Eaglescliffe and Darlington....but really need help in what area's best and which schools in those areas we should be targeting...any and all suggestions very welcome indeedy!...but they need to be quick please...we're heading oop there this coming tue and wed to view!!!

my friend has just recently adopted two children and the only decent school she could get her dd in, in Darlington was Harrogate Hill School in darlington. its not bad, ofsted reports seem ok and its in n ok area, traffic from middlesbrough to darlington (and that end of darlington) is a bit of a nightmare in rush hour traffic and can add another twenty mins onto your journey

Hi

I would say most of the primaries in the Ingleby Barwick and Yarm areas are good, nice schools. The secondaries too, one of them, Conyers, just been awared outstanding by Oftsted. The main consideration is the size of school, so Kirklevington (which is in Kirklevington village) is a small village school, whereas Yarm primary or Ingleby mill are larger, you ill know what you like. Nothing beats a visit though.
Hope this helps

Hi near Darlington - Middleton St george is a good option for communting to Middlesbourgh- you get a lot for your money in housing compared to say Yarm - school is very good -my DS just started -but rest of darlo would be more than 1/2 hour and as PP said getting out of darlo can be a bit of a nightmare
What I would say is that is been a big school year so at least in Darlington most schools have been over subcribed - and I am thinking you will be doing a late application might make it more tricky
I would ring or look on council website on how they deal with late application - and I would think about renting to get residency as early as possible.
I would have look at ostead reports for schools - and also go and visit ideally - Billingham wouldn't be my first choice to live but other than that I would think all locations and school prob would be fine

It depends on what your looking for every school has parents who like the school and parents who dont!
