The winner just has to be The Witloof Museum of Belgium - that is a whole museum dedicated to the vegetable Chicoryhmm.

Pinocchio World, Italy.

A strong contender, I'll warrant.

Ocean Park, Hong Kong.

Food choices on offer were Macdonalds or dried Octopus legs.

They were having a 'Phillipino Week', which meant every 15 minutes a fibreglass volcano erupted with several tons of sticky foam.

A line of Samoan dancers in grass skirts and tribal markings (male & female) took to the stage to dance to that well-known Samoan/Phillipino classic, "Achey-Breaky Heart".

We'd gone mainly to see the giant pandas, which was a half-hour trek, and when we got there, one was missing and the other turned around and did a huge poo. (highlight for dc, obviously).

dh & I were nursing hangovers, and the 30 degree heat & humidity actually made us wonder if we were hallucinating.

'twas very surreal. grin

Peppermint Park in Port Macquarie and
Tropical Fruit World in Nth New South Wales
are my firm favourites for trashiness!

The chocolate museum in the Grand Place is pretty appalling too belgo when you consider the country is so famous for it.

MaryMotherOfCheeses Fri 17-Jul-09 19:55:42

Tropical Fruit World <snort> grin

MrsSchadenfreude Fri 17-Jul-09 19:59:25

I have been to all of these ecept Tropical Fruit World and Peppermint Park. blush

I offer you the self-designated "Nigeria's Greatest Tourist Attraction". It was a small waterfall with nothing, and nobody near it. It's about two hours drive from Abuja.

The city of Itu, in Brazil, is famous for being "big". They have a giant phone box in the main square and a load of souvenir shops selling giant pencils and other such wonders. hmm

On the plus side, they also sell 'giant' ice-cream sundaes.

Tropical Fruit Land had a revamp a few years ago. It used to be called Avocado Land!

Santaland Canada
Mrs SF - have you been to Yankari in Nigeria - does it still exist?

LynetteScavo Mon 20-Jul-09 13:58:13

SantaLand in Scotland. OK, it might have been better if we hadn't gone in July, after Santa had gone home for the day.

Bakersman Mon 20-Jul-09 13:58:53

The Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. Very very dull, just a bell (smaller than you'd imagine) with a crack up the side. DULL!!!!

princessmel Mon 20-Jul-09 14:02:40

Ds would love the City of Itu with all the big things!

Kiwinyc Mon 20-Jul-09 15:01:29

Bakersman - I've been to see the Liberty Bell! You're right, it is a let down. BUT, I think Philadelphia redeems itself with the supremely weird Mutter Museum!
