Time for a Sydney meet-up?

Anyone up for one?

And while I've got the Sydneysiders in one place, can I just commend the fabulous Leichhardt Council?

I took DD to the park this morning and a woman was there with her dog. It did a shit, and the owner had the distinct air of someone about to pretend she hadn't seen it. I stood there conspicuously watching, she wandered over and made a half-arsed and unsuccessful attempt to look, then got in her car and drove off. She had the window down so as she drove past I shouted hey, don't allow your dog to shit and walk off, and she gave me the finger!

So I took her car rego and reported it to the council's Citizen Service Centre (9367 9222 for the other Balmainies) and the stupid bitch will be getting a $275 fine notice in the post tomorrow.

She doesn't know it but that's actually the best-case scenario for her. I was so enraged that I was considering going to buy some rat bait this afternoon and laying it around the off-leash section for her dirty little mutt to find tomorrow. I do think the park rangers should be armed and just shoot any dog whose owner fails to clean up after it on the spot.

So, anyway, drinks, anyone?

Bumping for soggy Sydneysiders.

Yes of course - even if its just you and me, kiddo!

Hahaha - `i couldn't agree with you more about some of those bloody dogs being blastedwith a shotgun - I was thinking more of a bazooka to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs but there are millions of them in Balmain (especially the ones that look like rats) and equal amounts of turds in elkington park. Good on you for reporting the woman - I would have belted her one!

Unfortunately it was raining so there was nobody else around. I think another playground mum would have been quite receptive if I'd said, here, just hold DD's reins for a second while I go over and thump that filthy bitch.

FIL dealt with a repeat offender who used to park outside IL's house, let his dog crap on the verge and then take it for a walk. FIL waited for a baking hot day then smeared it all over the owner's windscreen. Apparently it set like concrete.

Sad little bump for the Sydneysiders, though it'll be lovely if it's just me and thee, brighty.

Thank god I got home and ranted here - the guy from the council just rang about coming round to take a statement. The days all blend into one when your life is playground-feed-nap-playground and he said I'd have to be certain on all the details because it could end up in court, but now I know it was definitely Tuesday. Unfortunately I told him Monday on the phone because I forgot the time stamp on the message would be GMT.

Rightio, looks like the pubs and bars are open from noon until 10pm on Good Friday.

Anyone up for it? Any suggestions? If no-one else wants to come, brighty and I will keep it local. Maybe a bottle of Diamond White under the rotunda at the park.

Girls, I think you'll be doing your local thing. Thanks to a selfish martyr type in my office who was clearly loaded with cold but wouldn't go home "too much work to do" - I now have the lurgy.

I am now sensibly wrapped up in a fleecy robe, with a box of tissues and an episode of House at 8.30pm.

Enjoy your Diamond Fight!

Ah poo. You poor bugger. I hate those people who make a point of coming into work and snotting all over everyone. Rude rude rude rude.

We'll do it again in a fortnight or so when you're back on your feet.

Ok, so is everyone over the snots and how do we feel about the coming Friday?

Shall I PM arfishy? I thought she was truly excellent value last time, broken foot and all

A fek I have a leaving do to go to.

Could we make it the following Friday (24th)?

Sorry to be a PITA.

And yeah CAT arfishy!

ninedragons · 15/04/2009 01:20

Hooray!

She's on hols until the 28th but very keen, so shall we make it the Friday after that? (don't have my diary at hand)

Being a toddler mum I completely forgot it was school holidays. I suppose it's a timely reminder that we have three more years to go on holiday in off-peak times, so we'd better get cracking.

Oh dear, I'm Nigella No-Mates.

What about next weekend? We all get a lie-in anyway for Mothers' Day so we might as well make it worthwhile. DD is a bit cranky with the tail end of this cold so it's probably best not to dump her on DH alone tonight.

I haven't been on here for ages but would be up for meeting if it's somewhere fairly central. Can do this Saturday or Friday 15th if anyone's around?

Report
ninedragons · 08/05/2009 02:38

Friday 15th would be good for me, and I think Arfishy is still keen.

I love the Opera Bar and you can't really get more central than Circular Quay.
