Calling Americans - tell me more Tangeline

I ask because on Youtube I discovered there is a Tangeline fanclub and reading the reviews about various clips that have been posted, I realised it is about characters called Evangeline and Todd in a soap opera called One Life to Live.

So is it big in the USA and are the stories as improbable as those in the clips on Youtube?

I don't watch OLTL or any other soap opera, but fans are die hard fans. There are women (and men) that grew up watching their "stories" and some fans have been watching shows like this for 30 years or so.

The story lines can be normal, but then they get super crazy.
