DH is Irish and we think just got a long term contract sorted with a nfp based in Amsterdam. We currently live in the UK (I am British, he is dual as is our daughter) we have responsibilities here with 3 parents - one 88 and in reasonable health but frail, 2 in 70s both in poor health. Current plan is that as long as Brexit is in the state its in and if things get delayed to carry on with commuting out and staying locally for the work with myself and DD here to continue her education. THis would wrk for 18mths. In the mean time getting work done on house to sell in 2 yrs etc.
Longer term we are looking at options for 6th form for DD if we are out in Amsterdam (I would actually like to go for a bit although not forever) - few options, residential, stay with 88 yr old granny and carry on in her current situation, go and live with a sister that teaches at 6th form college and go there OR come with us and mabe do the IBL? Or A levels at international (not sure how realistic this is). So thoughts on those options welcome
House wise we are thinking fix this one up sell and get 3 bed flat locally fully paid for by us for Granny 88 and daughter with a room for us to come and stay as and when. This respolves a few issues - DD gets to stay put, Granny gets company and a cheaper place to live and some purpose ie "look after" DD (who is perfectly able to look after self to be honest)
Alternatively DD lives elsewhere we buy Granny a flat outright wherever she wants with room for us to come over too.
At the moement my head is buzzing with all the options and that is before we gt onto the finances of potentially running businesses in two countries and systems and all personal finance issues!!!
SO commentary and input wld be useful
