Relocating to Barcelona

Hello,

I have recently been offered a great job in Barcelona. The move is very exciting, I have conversational Spanish (not Catalon!) but I will manage.
I have two boys 7 and 8 years that only speak English (and a little arabic). We have spent the last 7 years between the Middle East, Malta and Ireland. They have been in international schools but as I'm doing this on my own and looking at the international school fees in Barcelona I was hoping someone could advise on the semi state / private schools.
Would the children initially suffer academically, or would it be fine in the long term?
Where to live is another issue, would it be better to live outside the city? It would be more cost effective to commute but dependent on schools.....
Also how much childcare support would I need working a normal 5 day week.

Sorry there are so many questions but if anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much.

Hi Icklepup,
I'm new to this and wasn't sure what title to put it under. I was just hoping someone may have some advice.

Bumping.
Partly to help OP and partly because I'm nosy. DM has lived in Spain for over 13 years and knowing all the niggles and cock ups still hasn't put me off, and my preferred destination is Catalonia........
