Last day of school today here in BC, Canada.

When do the schools break up where you are? For the Southern hemisphererererers, when are the long holidays?

We're in Sydney Australia and today is the last day of school for two weeks and one day. The kids get 6 weeks off over summer/Christmas

HK. Depends on which school. Most of the international schools finish today until mid to late August. French and American schools finished earlier though and local schools not till July.

Last day of July, back mid September (which is useful as it's cheaper to travel in September after most places have gone back). We're in Germany but different states have widely different holiday dates and some have already broken up and go back in August (done deliberately, to avoid congestion on the motorways).

DS 1 broke up last on 22/6 and goes back 7/9. 11 week break.

DS 2 who boards back in the UK breaks up on 7/7 and goes back on 12/9. 9.5 week break.

It means I have kids on vacation for pretty much 12 weeks.

Local schools finished about a month ago and will go back in late August.

Of course they can Grin

But there is generally a loss over the summer. Mostly literacy but also maths and physical activity (not in our bloody case).

I am hoping that mine will get better at reading in English this summer as they are only able to read in Italian atm!

Ours don't break up for another 5 weeks. We're in germany and the Bundesländern stagger their holidays to avoid crushes on transport and extortionate rates, and ours is the last one. They go back 10th September.

I'm loving the German holidays. I'm moving there.

When my children were small that was the normal length of the holidays. It was thought they were too y to young stand the heat on the way to and from school.

And it looks like your school is going back after Eid. Ours are all going back beforehand in the the third week of august for a week or so before breaking up for what will probably be another 10 day holiday.
