Life insurance for UK resident living in USA?

Hi there!

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for this. DH has pretty good life insurance with his employer but I am retraining, my income will be v low for some time and with 3 DC I would feel more comfortable with additional insurance. Not sure how long we will be in the US (probably another 1 to 2 years) so I think we would be best getting a UK product that is portable overseas, if such a thing exists?

Thank you!

No idea on a British product but if your DH may be able to add you to his policy at work.

I have a Legal & General policy, I have held it for a few years. I am emigrating and enquires if I could keep it and they said as Long as I continue to pay premiums from a UK bank account it is ok.

Hi,

I'm new on here, and came across this when I was looking for some threads about relocating to the US.

We're currently based in Qatar and recently took out £100k of cover on a 25-year, level term policy with Liquid Expat (they sorted our expat mortgage) for under £10 a month. When we took out our expat mortgage a couple of years ago we shopped around the local IFAs here in Qatar and we did take out an expensive policy. So, when our mortgage consultant from Liquid mentioned their life assurance product we thought we’d try a quote from them. Really pleased we did as we're saving £40 a month.

I know your query is about the providers that will cover you in the US and the reason I’m posting on this thread is because we’re looking to move out of Qatar within the next year or so (hence the relocating to the US search) and we double checked before we took out the policy that it'll cover us there too. I would definitely recommend trying a quote as it’s one of the few quotes I’ve had that didn’t seem to penalise me for being a British Expat.
