Lets have a new thread the other was getting a bit long!

All expats are welcome, I come from Perth WA and have been here for 8 years, married a pom and live in West London with my ds1 2yrs and ds2 1yr. No plans to move back to Oz but we are thinking of moving to Singapore for a couple of years. Well the weathers got to be better than here, and it will be further away from the inlaws

hi guys, my mil is not too bad but could be better! Just wish she would say whats on her mind rather than smile and say it all great. Can be very confusing and hard work at times.

I think if we ever moved back I would like to live in Melbourne, but that would defeat the purpose of moving closer to the family in Perth.

quokka Fri 09-Feb-07 15:14:34

anniemac did you forget you had 2 ds's?? Lol what kind of mix is your dh?

Sunshine your still live here even though you've split up? You must still have a good relationship?

Superloopy where abouts in Melb are you settling in?

sunnywong Fri 09-Feb-07 15:18:34

you not missing Perth even a little bit, not right now?

superloopy Fri 09-Feb-07 15:33:29

Not too sure where we are going to live yet as neither of us know Melb. Will probably be western suburbs as it is the side closest to where my family live.

Will just have to check out the places on the internet and when we get there we will go and see which place gives us the best vibe.

Not sure whether to go for cheaper outer suburbs with the bigger new homes but longer commute or inner suburb more expensive homes but less commuting..... the eternal question!!!

superloopy Fri 09-Feb-07 15:34:15

open to any suggestions or recommendations!!!

quokka Fri 09-Feb-07 15:49:21

sunnywong there are things I really miss! like Cottesloe beach, and the sunday session . Oh the sunset I miss the most .

quokka Fri 09-Feb-07 15:52:12

never ventured to the suburbs of Melb, but lived in St Kilda, South Yarra, and I can't remember the other one !

sunshinefairy Fri 09-Feb-07 16:11:14

quokka yes we do have a good relationship, but I am thinking more and more about going home for good.

quokka Fri 09-Feb-07 16:17:17

I can imagine that would be hard for him as well. I suppose since you have been here so long you have some good friends and support.

sunshinefairy Fri 09-Feb-07 19:22:51

Hellooooooooo is there anybody else. come on there must be more aussies !!!!!!

Quokka I think he will be fine, it has been talked about for a long time.. but who knows when push comes to shove..

KaybeeandZak Fri 09-Feb-07 21:00:31

hi quokka, i found the new thread!

hi everyone else, i am a kiwi, originally from wellington, living in east london. I am married to a pom, we have a ds 10 weeks old. I have been here coming up to 5 years (OMG!!!!) but we are moving back this year

Mellin Sat 10-Feb-07 21:55:10

Found the new thread Quokka, you are clever!

Hi all,
Another Aussie here, originally from mid north coast NSW, been in London for 6 years now. dd is now 3.5 months and only just starting to get the hang of this motherhood caper.

Kaybee you must be excited about moving back. Never thought about moving back until dd came along and now feeling homesick, especially since my parents visited us last month. Keep thinking of all those willing babysitters on the other side of the world and not here!

How sad.... 10pm sat night and I am on the internet!

quokka Sun 11-Feb-07 09:19:17

sunshine I'm sure it will go well for you. I've had an aussie thread up for ages and we only have about 5 of us in London. I would have thought there was lots of us still here? Maybe the Brit il's have scared them all away .

quokka Sun 11-Feb-07 09:20:28

Was talking to O2bme last night and we were saying that we can't remember alot of the funny slang, how about you guys?

Mellin Sun 11-Feb-07 11:10:42

My alltime favourite Aussie word is bogan, because it so perfectly sounds like what it means!

But I have forgotten most of the Aussie lingo, probably know more Brit slang now, innit.
