We are moving to New Jersey for a couple of years but would like to return in time to sit the 11+ common entrance exams/Grammar schools exams in North London. By the time we move my kids will be in year 4 and year 2 respectively.
My questions are-
1. How can I find excellent tutors in New Jersey to help with exam preparation?
2.Which private/international schools should I be applying for? They would need to be very academic.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

I can't help but could you say which area of NJ? It is quite a way from Newark to Princeton or Trenton that would make tutoring impractical.

The location of the job is in Kenilworth so we will need to live within commuting distance.

There aren't any international schools AFAIK anywhere in NJ (although the Chinese community arranges for Chinese classes in some towns). The nearest international school would be the United Nations school in NYC....good luck trying to get a place there (priority to children of diplomats, I believe) and your children would need to be fluent in the French language.

Most expat families of all nationalities tend to send their children to the local public schools as private schools are hideously expensive, more so than UK private schools (unless they are religious schools subsidized by their church or temples) the better schools are in the most expensive towns for buying or renting property.

You could try the Pingry School (student ratio 6 pupils to 1 teacher)so I hope you or your spouse is a hedge-fund manager to afford the fees or the Kimberly-Montclair Academy.

I think it will be very difficult for you indeed (if at all) to find a tutor whom is familiar with the 11+ exams.

You could try an on-line tutor. We used one by skype. It wasn't ideal but he did point us in the direction of the best resources to use and did CAT test etc.
