Question for ex-pats voting in referendum

Hi,
I'm applying for a friend to vote on my behalf, as a proxy vote for the referendum. Does anyone please know if they have to go to MY local polling station, or can they cast my vote at their own? I'm thinking they have to go to mine, which would be very difficult.

Did you think of postal voting or has that deadline passed.
I received my postal vote papers two weeks ago put my cross in the stay box and posted them back to the UK 10 days ago.

Yes, they do have to go to your polling station. If they find it impossible, you can contact the campaign group of the side you're supporting and ask if they can arrange a proxy for you.

Proxy applications can be applied for til the 15th. Too late for overseas application, but am guessing your still registered at home, just not physically there...

Your proxy needs to have a POSTAL proxy vote for you (unless voting in person at your polling station) as your vote can only be submitted at your polling station.

Your council then sends them your ballot paper which they simply post back.

Time is running out to arrange this, so I'd advise getting on this tomorrow if you want to do it this way.

Thanks for the advice. I'm registered as an overseas voter, just needed to arrange proxy. Couldn't do postal vote due to virtually non-existent postal system where we are!
I've just emailed the campaign to see if they can arrange a proxy for me :)
