I realise I'm posting in the wrong place but would an Abu Dhabi desert hotel be too hot in August?

I hope that Middle East mumsnetters may be able to help (although I'll post in 'travel' too).

I've seen a great deal to Abu Dhabi, it's to the Anantara Desert Islands or Qasr al Sarab but am wondering if these places are cheap for a reason in August!

Will be travelling with DH and DD,10 and wondering if it would be too hot to enjoy the horse riding/animal type activities or would we be stuck in the hotel/ by the pool? During which times would being outside be bearable?

We don't fancy the larger Dubai hotels but am wondering if these would be a better option in the hotter weather as there is more to do indoors.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated!

Tbh you won't be able to do anything outside unless near a pool to keep cooling off in. The heat will be unbearable. I HAVE gone to UAE in the summer because if you stay somewhere lovely and big then you can just stay inside and make the most of it and it's much cheaper than other times of year. At that time of year it's hot all the time, even midnight!

No you won't want to go horse riding. Last time we went was in May and my children even struggled then, was just a case of getting from one air conditioned area to another ASAP.

you are looking at being ...50 degrees
too hot to be outside at all
even too hot for an outdoor pool

Unless you are a lizard. My friend (who is Turkish) came back from Turkey and said 'It was HELLLLLLL!' - they had over 50 degrees.

Yep too hot. We live in the ME and are just back from a few days away in the next Emirate, and to be honest it's too hot, even with chilled pools, you can't walk on the tiles, and even in the shade, most pools have some sort of shade it's still reflected heat and sun. Ds and I went jet skiing, between the sun and the wind I looked like ID been tangoed. Still it gave the kids at school a right laugh.
Also Qasr Al Sarab is beautiful however it is inland in the a Empty Quarter (clue is in the name), it's a long drive out can't remember but 150 - 200kms from Abu Dhabi.

sounds like 'cheap for a reason'!

why go all that way when outside will be really unpleasant?
