Shipping stuff to Cambodia...

I am moving to Cambodia in July and am hoping to ship some belongings over there. Can anyone recommend the best way to do this / any companies to use and the likely cost of this?

Also, would it maybe be better to ship to Indonesia (Central Java Island), or Singapore and then transport it overland?

Any advice would be great! Thanks...

It depends how much stuff you have. Is it a house full of stuff or half a dozen boxes? The former will need a sea shipment and the latter can be done by air shipment. Most shipments go direct to the destination otherwise they have to be imported and customs cleared in each country they pass through. Try contacting international shipping companies (allied pick fords etc) who will be able to advise you.

We are off to Cambodia on holiday in July, really looking forward to it, was last there 15 years ago, it was amazing.

it will probably go through singapore anyway but its not for you to worry about the route and logistics. Let the movers quote.

here is a good starting point.

Email them and get surveyors to come to your house and assess. Get3-4 quotes. Is the company paying or you?

Sorry about the reply delay... It ll probably more a bit more than half a dozen boxes and their may be some items of furniture / un-boxable items but it wouldn't be an entire house contents.

I am not being transferred with a company so it'll all be self funded so the cost is a big factor. Can anyone tell me their experiences of who they have used and rough ideas of experiences of prices to Cambodia / SE Asia generally.

Thanks

I don't know about shipping to Cambodia. It wew have used Crown a number of times and including part shipments (to and from the ME). They have always been excellent and open to negotiation on price. Highly recommend them.

We had a small air shipment to Malaysia. Six large (ie tea-chest) sized boxes. No idea how much it cost as it was covered by DH's employer but I know they got three quotes first. The shipping company they used was Interdean. It was very straightforward; one of the Interdean people came, wrapped and packed, took away the boxes and sent them off.
