Moving with dog from US to UK

I am looking for recommendations for a pet transport company. Has anyone used one recently?

Didn't use a pet transport company, found it wasn't too hard after all. Just read all the instructions VERY thoroughly. We sent our mini schnauzer last August and it actually went pretty smoothly. But, oh the cost! Have you considered flying into France instead and then just bringing your dog over. It is apparently MUCH cheaper. I still can't believe what we paid, even without a transport company.

thanks MN. I thought about doing it myself as it doesn't seem too difficult. I've already done the new microchip and rabies injection. My vet here in the US says the next step is to take the dog to the govt vet at o'hare within 5 days of flying for the tapeworm treatment and signing all the docs.
I'll contact BA to find out how much it'll cost for the flight.

Yeah, I couldn't find a gov't vet to do the paperwork so I had to use a private vet. When I went to the USDA vet to get the paperwork certified, he basically said the private vet had made a few mistakes. Fortunately, he seemed miffed at vet and called them himself to reprimand them, then corrected the paperwork on the spot. He was really nice and said they get training to do this and shouldn't have screwed it up. Honestly, that was the only hiccup in the whole process and if you can get a vet who knows what they are doing, it should be fairly straightforward.
BTW: JUST the flight, NOT including the vet costs and fees, was $1400. FFS, the dog's a runt and only weighs 10 lbs soaking wet!

What about going back on the Queen Mary 2 they have kennels on board and charge less than the plane ride.

Thanks all - I've got half the paperwork done here and have spoken to a company which our company recommends. They're getting a quote for me... This crazy mutt better be worth it

QM2 is cheaper than you think. For us a one way ticket to New York, one night in an airport hotel and a one way trip to Southampton cost the same as a plane ticket each to UK from San Francisco to Manchester.
