Waiting to move

Dh and I have decided to return to the UK after living in Sweden for 3 years. The actual decision was hard to make as we had always believed Sweden(dh's home) would be our final move. Unfortunately it isn't, for both of us.
We bought a 'fixer-upper', the plan being since we would be here forever, so we had the time. The kids are also 2 years behind the UK in education, though I am working a lot at home with them, trying to get them up to speed. We know it will be a year if not 2 before we can actually make the move. Therein lies the problem.
How do you achieve patience? It's driving me nuts, being here physically but emotionally I'm so detached from the place, come to think about it I was never attached in the first place.
Anyone else waiting to move????

not right waiting - but we did it twice and the 4 months between deciding and going each time, were torture.
In a funny way you may need to try to mentally shelve it. You're not going for ages so its just something you're doing in the future and try to get on with the present.
sorry not more helpful.didnt want to leave you unanswered.

We have been in the opposite situation. Known that probably going to move to singapore but been waiting for sign off from hubbie's company since last september. So oiur lives have been on hold since then, knowing probably going, but not 100% sure so it's been hell. I can definitely sympathise, emotional rollercoaster, worse as noone knows so keep having to fend off questions about holidays, why we aren't buying things, makingplans etc from family and friends. Got final confirmation TODAY that we are going so such a relief at least we can start telling people and planning.

You are physically in one place but emotionally in different place

Congrats on your move, you can start breathing again. We haven't told anyone yet either that we are moving back, basically because we don't know when. Plus once you make it official it's the only thing that you end up talking about. This will be our 3rd big move.
