Hi, we are moving to Regina in canada in three weeks time but the people we were going to stay with now don't have the room for us so we have to stay in a hotel. i have looked on the Kijiji website and tried to email some ads about properties they have to rent but because i am not in canada at the moment the website wont send my emails (because of their security settings to avoid spam) they wont even email them for me. i need someone in canada with a canadian email address to contact the people for me and pass on my email address once they have been in contact with them. my only other option is to telephone them but it is quite expensive to call canada.

is there anyone willing to help me?

What is stopping you opening an email with a Canadian end to it?

Couldn't the friends you were going to stay with help out with the emails?

annh i would rather not ask them because its not the first time they have let us down. we have tried to do alot of things ourselves but they insisted they help and have just ended up causing us more problems

That is so strange - surely Canadian hotels want international guests...

it is actually physically possible to book hotels in canada from here.

county, just so you know I am not able to use kijiji either and I have a normal gmail.com address! I am not sure what the problem with the site is but I'm not sure a .ca email will fix it. I know people in Canada who have had this problem too, you can find Help threads about it. Calling might be best!

kday & chibi - I'm assuming the OP is talking about trying to enquire about long term rentals advertised on kijiji, not to book the hotel that they have to stay in temporarily...

I don't think I'd look to book a rental property without viewing it. We found our place through a Kijiji advert but I wouldn't say it was really terribly reliable. I would worry about being scammed - certainly you'd not want to send money to anyone without viewing the property and signing a contract. I'd also be surprised if anyone would let to you without meeting you (Canadians in my experience really value personal contact).

I think to be honest you'd be better off booking a relatively cheap hotel or motel and looking once you've arrived.

countydurhamlass, have you tried posting a house wanted ad yourself, with your e-mail address in the ad, rather than trying to reply to ads?

Oh, never mind that idea, I just read their posting policies. "The following activities are prohibited from Kijiji Canada: Posting an Ad if you are not located in Canada "
Your best bet is to ask those people that you were going to stay with to post and ad for you, with your e-mail address in the ad for replies I think.

thanks for your responses. i have telephoned a couple of the people with adverts and spoken to them. in the meantime, in the meantime the people who we were originally supposed to stay with have spoken to their landlord because they feel terrible about us not staying with them and we have arranged to visit one of the properties he has to rent. they even sent us abotu 70 photos of it!! so fingers crossed we will have a house to rent not long after we get there
