Dubai airport transit - is there a place to lay our heads

I've heard several complaints about those lounges being overcrowded now, which defeats the purpose somewhat! I've booked a room at the transit hotel, which is expensive, but I recently had surgery so really need a place to shower and rest even for an hour. Hope it works out now!

Labootin's info is far more up to date than my own experiences.

I meant to mention that it was several years ago that I used the Maharba.

I've not been to Dubai on a transist though (I live here) with those lounges I'm not sure if you can go straight to them to wait. Or if you have to go through immigration (queues can take up to an hour on a bad day) and then recheck in again ... IYSWIM.

Personally I wouldn't recommend the Maharba, when I was there a few months ago the toilets were filthy', the place was packed i struggled to find a seat and the staff were miserable.

THe business class lounge in Dubai is nice I wouldn't say it's fantastic but I couldn't sleep there It's busy and due to the amount of people its noisy (and huge !) but it does Irrc have a kids play area.

Far cheaper than a hotel (I would think) would you consider a VIP lounge?
I don't think it they have showers, but they do have comfy chairs, free drinks and snacks and the one I used was a quiet, calm little oasis.

Although I was only meant to be there for 4 hours, in reality I was there for far longer (I reckon I got my money back at the free bar wink )

Thank you. That may just be what we need. Expensive, but I have a feeling we may spend that on food and duty free otherwise, and still end up exhausted and grumpy.

this one is the one we stayed at when we had a transit.
It isn't cheap but we weren't allowed to leave the airport to go to a less expensive one.

we have about six hours transit in Dubai airport - 2 adults, a 2 year old and 6 year old. I would really, really like a place we could lay our heads down for a few hours and maybe even it feasible to book the airport transit hotel, or a lounge?
