Any Gold Coast/ Brisbane mumsnetters?

Just wondering if there are any mumsnetters on the Gold Coast. I have been here for almost 4 years and in that time had two daughters (7 weeks & 16 months). I have made some nice friends but miss good old British chat. DH and I are setting up a business in Brisbane so will also be spending some time up there too.

Thanks chloe

At this stage we are looking at Greenslopes / Carina / Carindale. My DH wants to be close to the CBD, but we need a place with a yard for our dog.

Disclaimer: I'm not British, but pretty good at chat :)

What kind of business are you setting up?

Hi forgot I did this post...baby brain!! DH is a GP specialising in varicose and spider veins so setting up a clinic in Toowong area. Also have to find somewhere close to CBD to rent that will take our two dogs. Where are you moving from havingamaybe? Hi Chloe! Thanks for the reply where are you and what age are your children?

I just moved to Brisbane (kangaroo point) with DH and 22 mo DS. It might be worth looking there for somewhere to stay we have a garden and are right on the river, it's fairly $$$ though. There's a ferry every five minutes to CBD and there's a fantastic park/ lovely feel to the place.

If anyone fancies a Brisbane meetup I'd love to come along

Hello all,

Kangaroo point ... very $$$$$. Dogs in Australia.. be prepeared that if you rent then often are not allowed inside dogs... the closer you are to the city the less likely you are to be able to have animals. There is big competion for rental accomodation and as such they dont have to let you have pets. There is also a big city premium for space so anything with a gardedn for kids is very pricey. We ended up renting well outside the city and Dh commutes into toowong most days. Much more affordable and nearer white beaches and such.

I guess it just depend what you want. We find the trains are great into the city. It take dh 45 mins on the train and a 10 min drive to the station. We live near Caboolture (Well nearer Bribie) and have now bought here.

I guess it depends what you want in location.

We have a great life on acreage, near the sea. which is what we wanted. Of course ideally we would have this within a 20 minutre commute to work... but sadly not in our budget... which is fairly large!

I'm a nanny that works between brisbane and the gold coast, totally love it and heaps to do with the little ones, like theme parks, muesums, parks, beach etc

harbour town on the gold coast is an awesome place to get kids clothes etc as well as some of the more well known brands
