Not sure how to feel about returning to UK.

My son and I moved abroad to be with my partner (not my son's father) 17 months ago.

I have never settled and have always longed for home. My son, 12 and autistic, I thought, was getting on ok - although I understood he missed my family - and told DP and I he was happy here.

Spoke with DS's dad today (about him contributing towards DS's upkeep), and, apparently, DS isn't happy and wants to return to UK. DS's dad has said he's not really prepared to help with costs as he doesn't believe DS is happy and, if we return to the UK, he would fund his (maybe private) education and any courses/assistance DS would need.

Spoke to DS later on in the afternoon and it appears he would like to go home.

So, it seems it kinda makes for a easy decision - obviously we wouldn't move until the right school/setup had been sorted, but, DP isn't happy (not that's he's actually said). He wants the best for DS, too, but I know he doesn't want to go back to the UK - he hates what it's become and left years ago and he's worked very hard to be at his level in his career.

How do I deal with this?

Thanks for any words in advance.

Can Ds tell you what he doesnt like about where you are? Id also be wary however that ds's dad is waving some kind of a bribe? firstly if he wants the best of Ds he should help out regardless... not conditionally... secondly autsm is a huge spectrm disored.. if your ds needs special ed.. support etc.. is it not availiable where you are?
sorry just added more questions.. I guess i agree with your DP.. Uk right now isnt a great place!
