MNetters of France - how do I find non-biological washing powder, please?? I have finished my last box of Fairy non-bio from the UK and I can't find anything that seems the same...can't use biological as it makes us all itchy.
Merci!

I'm in Belgium, not France, but over here there is no such thing as non-bio powder.
It's actually a very British invention.

Here a powder called 'Le Chat' is renowned as being the most sensitive. Can you get that in France?

Yes, you might give Le Chat a go. I think it is actually marked "sensitive".

I have read lots of times on here that non-bio powder is generally not available except in the UK.

Apparently if you are allergic/sensitive to bio powder, it is extremely unlikely that it is the enzymes (i.e. the bio part) that is causing the reaction. It is often the perfume or some other component. :)

Good luck, sorry I have never bought washing powder in France.

No such thing here in Aus either - I think it's a marketing gimmick dreamed up for the UK supermarkets?

Really? Non-Bio is a UK thing?

Does that mean the stuff I'm buying here in Canada is bio?

Why is it so appallingly bad at getting stains out then (or it the glorified twin-tub washing machines that are the problem - combined with them not being able to heat water so doing all washes hand-hot)

Ah yes, the joy of transalantic washing machines, hand warm water on the lower setting (and only three temperatures available!) as well as superb towel rippping abilities!

Le Chat is the most sensitive; however years ago when I ran out of fairy I went on to Frrence Persil and have had no problems.

A recent visit to England showed DD2 to be sensitive to UK bold powder, but has no problems with French persil.

Aha - mystery solved! Thank you so much. I will try Le Chat and look out for 'sensitive'.

There was some research done a few years ago that showed bio was actually better for sensitive skins than non-bio. It was certainly our experience with dd's appalling nappy rash which cleared up almost overnight when we switched (she was wearing cloth).

If you go to your nearest "bio co-op" they have "Ecover" and others which may help?

I use Arbre Vert liquid - no nappy rash and no eczema.
