So much for your firm being family friendly.....

I had a call from one of your Sydney colleagues this am, they are in trial with a file I worked on 2 years ago.

He was phoning to "flag" that he might need me to appear at trial, in Sydney, next week.

I laughed, and asked if he had ever had a 3 week old baby. It appeared he wasn't joking....although he has said it's "unlikely" that he would need me to, although he does want me to have a "conference with counsel" about a meeting I had 2 years ago.

Not sure if this guy is for real, but who on earth phones a woman with a tiny baby, expecting them to drop everything and fly accross the country on a week's notice? How is he so disorganised that this didn't come up before??

Anyway, it gave DH and I a laugh at the thought of me turning up, tiny child in tow, and handing said child to the judge to hold while I give evidence.....

Hope all is well with you - not been on Mnet much as just busy busy with new DS, and really enjoying it (broken nights not so much..)

Why would you need to appear? You're not giving evidence, does he want you to go and be instructing solicitor or something? How odd.

Very good to hear from you. Can I come see new tiny son some time? I promise i am not scary baby-kidnappy person.

Most importantly CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!

Hi ozziegirly - congratulations on DS!! Sorry to jump in on your thread to tortoise, just like to nose around the Down Under threads :).

Hope things are going well with DS and I also had a wry smile at the idea of you jumping on a plane at very short notice with a teeny baby - hope you don't need to. I really think it's about time they allowed video conferencing facilities in these circs, hey.

tortoise, I'm not sure why - I think it's possibly to comment on another witness' credibility or something. It would be to give evidence on a meeting I had with a witness 2 years ago.

I haven't spoken to their counsel yet so I am hoping that the bloke who phoned me was just a bit overly keen.

I have already told him in no uncertain times that he would have to subpoena me, and I would strongly oppose it...I'm hoping this puts him off..

Yes, it would be lovely to see you!

Hey thumbwitch, good to hear from you too.

I am not at work for a few weeks - leave - so would love to come and see you and yours. Do you have a nonwork email? You can name names in between newborn rocking.
