Apologies if this isn’t the right place to post.
My brother is currently dying of cancer. He was diagnosed at the start of the year and now things are looking pretty bleak.
Since he was diagnosed he has been living with me, DH, DSS and DD as he sadly never had a family of his own or a lasting relationship.
In the last few weeks he has taken a real down turn and has been in hospital for the last couple of weeks. He is adamant he wants to return to us for as long as is possible and we are equally determined to make sure he gets whatever he wants, although we are very aware he will be coming home to die.
Unfortunately when he was taken ill last DD (2) saw her Uncle lying very ill on the floor and being taken off by ambulance.
Does anyone know of any resources we can use to help DD understand what is happening? She keeps looking for her Uncle and shouting “boo” in his room. I don’t know how DD will cope when my brother is back home & while we want to protect her from what’s going it just isn’t going to be possible- apart from anything else DD and my brother are BFFs and to keep them apart would upset them both massively.
The local hospice have offered virtual counselling for the adults (DSS is 25) but there doesn’t seem to be anything to help DD. Just hoping someone may know of something.
