Life-limiting illness

Dying MIL scary prognosis for last days

My MIL is dying of lewy’s body dementia and skin cancer that is spreading everywhere and bleeding heavily. She’s being taken care of at home. Close family want her to stay safe at home with them. She is well looked after.

I’m scared for them when the end comes. It’s predicted that she will die of a haemorrhage and will have to be given an injection of morphine to basically hasten the end in a painless way (as though she’s not already in pain that she can’t express!)

I feel so upset by this. She (and the family) have been through so much with so little medical support and I feel it’s worse than we allow out animals to go through.

Is there anyone out there who could see a possible different (peaceful) end? We have been given very little clarity on what exactly to expect by the medical professionals involved.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ve recently lost a parent to cancer and it’s so difficult both at the time and after. I’m afraid I can’t tell you what to expect except that the district nurses we had were wonderful. I’d recommend marie curie and your local hospice are who you speak to. Good luck Flowers

Thanks so much for your reply and sorry you had to go through or are going through a similar thing. I’d also be grateful for any medical knowledge from people who are reading

I wonder if any support from hospice care might help you
