My mum who is 72 has just had a mastectomy in November to remove breast cancer and after this they found cancer in her lymphnoids. She now has an op to remove these on Jan 8th. She's such an active woman -works,is a carer for my dad, helps me with my son- and I know shed finding all this very hard. Her mum died when she was 8 and its always been her greatest fear. So compound that worry with not being able to work and she's feeling very low. She doesn't get her results from the lymphnoids operation until the end of Jan and we all just feel like we're in limbo until then.

Anyone got any advice for how to help her during this time?

Firstly how awful for your mother to have lost her mother at the age of 8 - a life changing experience

Your mother needs to now put herself first and stop running around after everyone else. Perhaps do some nice things with her that she may not be able to do if she requires further treatment. Theatre weekend away or whatever

I would imagine your mother may be offered chemo if her health allows it as treatment is generally more rigorous if in lymph nodes

Wishing you and your mother well
