Ovary cancer?

Hi everyone. I feel a bit silly posting this due to my age, and everyone I know has told me I'm over-reacting. I'm 21 and had my beautiful daughter 5 months ago. For about two month now I've been having some odd symptoms. I've been bloated most days with pains around my pelvic area which seem to radiate were my ovaries are located. I also have pain during intercourse. I'm feeling sick most days and have terrible lower back pain to the point it hurts to lean over. I have already seen my gp and they say I may have IBS but I'm worried it's something else. My bowel movements have been normal and I seem to be getting worse. I have no family history of ovary or breast cancer. I have another gp appointment for next Tuesday and I'm scared they won't take me seriously. I'm not pregnant either. Could I request an examination? Thank you.

Yes you can, and don't be fobbed off. I would imagine it may well be your body getting back to normal after the baby, mine had some very strange aches and pains after all my dc but they should take you seriously.

Sorry, have just seen the board you've posted this on. I think you will get more appropriate replies on one of the other illness boards.

Hi thank you for your reply, I thought it may be my body recovering. I did the silly thing of googling my symptoms and found it's the same as ovarian cancer. The bloating is what scared me the most, I've never had it before. I'm going to request an examination next week and see what they have to say hopefully I don't get fobbed off again 😩 How do I change the thread to another board? I'm new to this haha

You could ask whether it would be possible to have a Ca125 blood test and/or an ultrasound. The GP can arrange both of these without going through a consultant.

It doesn't have to be cancer to give you these symptoms. Any ovarian issue, just a benign cyst, can have the same effect. The problem with diagnosing ov ca is that the symptoms are often mild, too mild even to go to the GP, and there are many other conditions that could cause them. They are easily confused with bowel issues..

But worth asking your GP for a blood test for more information.

Definitely push for more investigation. I was diagnosed in early 30's just after having my LO and with no family history so whilst its rare, its not impossible to be ovarian cancer (obviously hoping you don't have it! but should push for diagnosis and not just be fobbed off).

This might help track your symptoms and help present your worries to your GP:

Thanks everyone. They are booking me in for some blood tests in the next couple of days. Doctor thinks it's ibs again, felt my tummy says it seems normal. The symptoms seem to be dying down, still have a bit of bloating Sad hopefully the blood tests will put my mind at rest.
