Alternative cancer treatments

Has anyone ever used controversial cancer treatments such as "sonodynamic therapy", "sono-photo dynamic therapy" or any other supposed advanced cancer treatments?

If so, what was your experience of these treatments? Would you recommend them to others?

Hello Eli

My DH is a oncologist and always says that the name for alternative medicines that actually work is "medicine". It's rather cynical but there is a lot of truth in it. And there are a lot of snake oil salesmen out there promising cures with shark cartilage and dust, which patients then ask him about. Often after spending huge sums...

I also had a friend who was convinced that she could prolong her life after a terminal bowel cancer diagnosis by keeping her body alkaline. It meant that she spent the last 6 months of her life choking down wheatgrass shots and similar delights.

I have never heard of sono or photo dynamic therapies but if it's not widely available then there is probably a good reason (that is likely not "big pharma doesn't want a cure for cancer!") hmm

My advice would be not to bother - sorry.

Photodynamic therapy is used mainly for head and neck tumours and melanomas - it is a recognised treatment, though not widely available - usually in specialised cancer centres

It's not quackery unlike many of the other therapies touted on websites!

cannabis oil but you do need to get hold of a certain type for certain cancers. stress reducing treatments like reiki - no harm in relaxing whether you believe in it or not.
