Nodules in lymph system

My mum has just had a kidney removed as she had a large cancerous tumour on it.

It looks like the kidney area is clear, but they've now said that the scan she had 3 months ago, prior to surgery, showed that she had a number of nodules on lymph system/glands in her chest.

I'm now very concerned as my experience of cancer in the lymph system is that it rarely has a positive outcome (especially as she's already had cancer removed from elsewhere).

I'm a bit confused (& cross) that they've ignored these lymph nodules until now. She's going to have another scan (no idea when, last time it took ages to get an appointment).

Does this sound like it is spreading or just unrelated and benign. I'm trying not to think the worst but I can't help myself.

Thank you. Still waiting for the next scan to find out if they've grown/changed/spread...

Sometimes it can be very difficult to be certain that nodes are just reactive to an infection or are something more sinister....if the nodes are less than 1 cm they usually wait 2-3 months and scan again to see if there's been any interval change
Hope she gets scan soon , so you know what you're dealing with
