Ms - fed up of it

Just thought I'd have a moan

Been diagnosed with Ms for 2 years now and I'm struggling. I have a 3 year old and a 3 month baby who I'm so grateful for but time to rest and sleep are definitely a thing of the past

Started on tecfidera in feb and really struggling with the side effects but know I need it to reduce the number of relapses (6 so far in 2 years)

No words of wisdom, just a shoulder and a listening ear if you want it.

My SIL is in the same boat, but her children are older and was diagnosed over 10 years or so ago.

I hear you Fraggle - I'm 36 but was diagnosed at 15 years old. SPMS now for the past three years and really struggling with keeping up with work/kids etc. Feel free to moan, it helps talking to people who understand!

I'm sick of it ruining things, we took the kids away for a week about a month ago and I've still not recovered

Decided not to go back to work as I'm not consistently well enough to manage it and keep getting comments about how lucky I am, it's not luck more of a case of unable to do the job as its quite physical and not wanting to waste my good days on work rather than my little monkeys

People can say the most insensitive things when they're trying to put a positive spin on things, can't they?

There's still a lot of ignorance surrounding MS, unfortunately. Someone asked my SIL where she caught it the other week...honestly!!!

Have you found your local branch of the MS Society any help, fraggle?

SPMS= secondary progressive MS
I only know that as I'm spending far too much of my sick leave on the internet.

Oh, sorry Arsenals, I missed your question. But yep, SPMS is secondary progressive. Basically i do not relapse anymore, but my mobility is steadily declining.

Fraggle, giving up work is such a big (and difficult) decision. I hope that it helps you, I have been thinking a lot about it too. It is difficult as we rely on my income a lot and I also worry that if I didn't work, I would literally never leave the house (both my kids are school aged now).
