Hi

My uncle is coming home from hosptial next monday where he has been trained and doing home dialysis.

I have done a lot of reading about this and everywhere it says that the diet and water intake of someone on dialyisis is restricted.

However, my mum told me today that my uncle said that he can eat all he wants and no more restrictions on drinking as well..... as per doctors advise.

I know he does not want to bother my mum too much (they are both over their mid 70's).

I think he is not telling the truth...

Do you have any experience/knowledge about this?

Thank you very much.

I think that he is an adult with the right to decide how closely he wants to adhere to his doctors suggestions.

It's upsetting for the othe people involved but their distress doesn't change his right to decide

Colditz

Thank you for ur reply which has been very valuable and appreciated. You are very right.

Indeed the love we have and the care we want to give can blind us.

I will make sure that he has all the facts and if he is fully aware of the consequences then we all must and should accept and support.

Thanks again.
