Last week I had first hand experience of a hospice (Dove House, Hull) for the first time.
My dad has Burkitt's Lymphoma and was admitted for a week to sort out pain relief and also a bit of respite.
Anyway, I was really apprehensive about what it would be like so I went up first without the dcs (nearly 6&3). Needn't have worried, it was fabulous, like a really modern guest house is the nearest thing I can describe it too.
I took the kids to visit over 2 days (we live about 60 miles away so not possible to go every day) and they were really welcomed, toys to play with, dvds, we had lunch there too and played in the gardens.
They weren't phased or frightened by it at all and were really comfortable. I told them it was a hotel for very poorly people who wouldn't get better as it seemed the best way to describe it.
Just wanted to share really, going to a hospice is such a huge thing but it was, well, just so lovely and normal
