can I give my baby my partner's surname?

Hi, my partner and I will get married in November in UK as we live here now. I won't be able to take her surname, because in our home country gay marriage is not legal. We want to have a baby and I will be the birth mother. Do you know if the baby can have her surname, even though she is not the birth mother?
Thanks!

For that matter, in the U.K. you can both have any surname you want.

My kids have DW's surname, I gave birth. You can give them any name you want, including a double barrelled one or a made up one!

Back home, if I kid has a different name then one of his parents - there is a lot of discussion on it and it makes the kid feel bad. But I guess this is not the case here - I'm really glad to hear. Thanks again for your answers.
