Friendly(iest) areas for same-sex families in London?

Hello!

My partner and I are currently renting in Balham, but want to start a family in the next year, and are looking to buy our own tiny home (max budget of 335K...).

We've had no trouble at all being a gay couple in London before, but I am worried that this might change once we have babies, they go to school, and we encounter more of hetero-norms and expectations. So we would like to settle into a neighbourhood that is very same-sex family friendly, while nice and affordable at the same time.

Do you know any areas like this? Any advice would be really helpful!

Many thanks to all!!

We have lesbian friends in Ealing but you may struggle on your budget. I have lots of gay friends in west London and most live happily with no problems-only Ealing friends have children though. Not sure how helpful I am being.

Walthamstow is the last affordable place in London and there are plenty of 'family' out here. It's a bit rough around the edges in parts, but the transport links are good. We've lived here for a year and a half and have made friends in the area, which we never managed in Stoke Newington or seven sisters

I'm in S/Upper Norwood and although my DC aren't yet school age there were a couple of same sex couples at my NHS antenatal classes at King's and at baby groups and a there's a local Crystal Palace FB group which seems to meet fairly regularly. It's a very mixed area with families of all kinds and v friendly.
Might be a push on your budget though prices are falling so you might get lucky if you haggle.

Many thanks all for the suggestions. Crystal Palace is lovely, but a bit out of range unfortunately...
Are there any particular areas in Walthamstow you recommend, almostfullyfunctional?

Many thanks again!

You could try new cross/brockley/telegraph hill. It's very "arty" being so close to goldsmiths and nobody bats an eyelid at same sex couples. I know a few with school age kids and they've never had issues.

We live in Higham Hill, by Blackhorse road. There are at least 3 other lesbian couples who all live near us. It's not one of the trendier bits but we have sighted the odd Bugaboo, so things are moving up. The Coppermill road area is nice but there's hardly ever anything for sale there. Village is v trendy and expensive. Around Lloyd Park is also pretty, lots of old Warner Homes there
