Hi there,

We are a lesbian couple in Plymouth and have a 4 month old daughter also conceived via AI donor.

We'd love to get to know others to share stories and help with our daughter's identity and to know of other children in a similar situation to her. Feel free to private message.

xx

Yay, fab, congratulations, I am in Totnes so not far away, let me know if you come up this way, maybe we can meet for a cuppa, I am trying to network for more gay mums in the area, we seem pretty thin on the ground but I am sure we will get more numerous since the laws changed in Nov 09 around CP's and adoption. i am mostly a single mum, my partner is only partially on board so my resources can get pretty thin otherwise i would offer to come down to Ply to visit, at the mo its not very realistic but I hope to get more support soon thru a childminder.

glad to hear from you,
hope you are sleeping ok,
xx

Hi,

My partner and I are hopeful future parents, we are looking to talk to people who have been through the process and have more of an idea what it is like to be gay parents in the South West. We recently moved down here so we are still trying to get a feel of the communities response to us and gauge whether or not this is a safe place to start a family. Any advice would be great.

I am a gay mum of two teenage children, new to area. Is there any links
or advice you can give me on socialising and meeting new people. I do
not go outside the house since my partner left me last year and all my confidence went out the window when she left. I am
finding it so difficult and not sure what to do.
Anyone out there who meets for a coffee?

Hiya

I'm in Taunton and have a gorgeous 5 month old son conceived by AI. My partner appears to not be on board so I am a single mum. Anybody want to chat? x

Hi there,

Myself and my fiancée want to have a child. We found it all rather confusing and followed the common advice which was to see your GP, who sadly had no experience of dealing with a lesbian couple wishing to have children. However he said we would need to undergo the usual tests so a few blood tests and swabs later our GP said we would need to be referred to a fertility clinic and asked us to find one. After then calling our local clinics we realised how expensive it would be and sadly there is no way we can afford it!

We were hoping to be able to use a unknown donor and perform home insemination but this does not appear to be an option given from fertility clinics and same goes for the only sperm bank I could find details for (London). The only other route I can see is finding a known donor - either a friend or using a website like PrideAngel.

We are based in South Devon and I would be so grateful for any advice or any stories of how any of you went about this.

Thank you

Maz
