Gay Mums to be in West Midlands

Hey everyone,

We are expecting our first child in Decemeber & have been a little surprised in the lack of gay family groups or support networks available in the West Midlands.

We are a gay couple living near Birmingham & would really like to meet similar mums and/or dads that we could share experiences with, go on family days out, meet for coffee, etc & just build up a support network

We think it's really important our little one has friends who live in a similar alternative family situation...

Look foward to hearing from anyone who feels the same...

Hi, congratulations thats amazing, bet you can't wait! I found my sperm donor on a website called Pride Angel, (www.prideangel.com) they have lesbian and gay people on from all over the UK. They have forums too, might be worth posting on there. There are a lot more people going through this than you think. I still talk to people who messaged me at the time. Sometimes its good to hear good news too keeps people motivated that they too will find someone to help. Good luck, keep us updated! Dawn xx

Hi Dawn,
Thanks ever so much for the response & some great advice, we we're beginning to think we were the only ones in this situation :-)

I'm pleased to say we've received some fantastic messages, yours included, and have been put in touch with a couple of local groups. Posting on pride angel sounds like a great idea too, coincidentally we also meet our donor on the same site, but posting on there for ongoing support never really crossed our minds. I'll get on to it now.

Thanks once again for your help. I'll let you know how we get on.

Take care

L&H

p.s. might be stating the obvious, but I'm presuming you're now a proud mum yourself, how did you find the pride angel donor experience? Things have worked out quite smoothly for us up until this point.....

Hiya,

We had our little man in December 2010 he is now 7 months and a cheeky monkey!! It is wonderful but I know what you mean about knowing others in the same situation.

God luck with the rest of the pregnancy.

I notice the most recent comments were left a few months ago and I just wondered how you were getting on with meeting other LGBT families? My wife and I life just outside Birmingham and our twins are due at the end of October. We don't know any other gay families and we would really like to meet some! Xx
