can I reclaim tax paid on a savings account if I didn't pay tax for the year?

I'm just doing my tax return for the year and I'm well below the threshold for tax. I got interest on a savings account (in just my name) taxed automatically - about £100 - and I wondered if I could claim it back

how would I go about this? do I need to mention it on my tax return or ring the bank?

i think you do it on a tax return and get a nice cheque from inland rev back smile

you put all income and all tax deducted at source on the tax return. the repayment will be automatic.

thanks so much for this - I did it, I didn't think it would be so simple! I always get myself worked up about doing my tax return and then it takes about 30 minutes
